Play-On Programming Options:

Afterschool Days & Professional Development Days

  • Play-On Afterschool runs from 2:30 to 5:45 pm on every school day.

  • Play-On Afterschool is located in Sunset Elementary in the Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District and follows the MCPASD calendar (see below)

  • Play-On Afterschool offers full-day programming during scheduled MCPASD Professional Development Days to enrolled students.

  • Parents can expect an email for an overall outline for each Professional Development Day

Professional Development Days

The MCPASD has many Professional Development/Collaboration days, roughly one per month. Play-On Afterschool full-days will not be available during national holidays or other days where MCPASD is closed. In order to accommodate the need for care during these scheduled professional development days, we will offer full Play-On time during these days! Play-On will operate from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. during these scheduled PD days. The demands for this longer day are different than the afterschool days so we need guardians to read and sign our PDD forum.

Afterschool Days

Afterschool days are for all normal MCPASD days of full instruction from 2:30 PM to 5:45 PM on the Sunset Ridge Elementary School campus.

We have a schedule that we try to follow for a overall rough outline for the day, we understand that children value spontaneity in regards to creativity, so we try to be open to new ideas whilst going about our days, parents will be communicated with through Brightwheel app if we go far off schedule.

  • These days are available during Professional Development Days, (teacher work days) and go from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM. These are only available to those who are enrolled in our afterschool program

  • These days are available every weekday, from 2:30 PM to 5:45 PM that school is in session.

Play-On Guideline Schedule for Afterschool Days

2:30 PM to 5:45 PM

2:30 - Check-in, bathroom, hand washing, snack set up

2:40 - 3:00 - Snack Time and Socializing

3:00 - Daily Announcements-Sharing daily schedule/activities, Reward and Recognition Time

3:15 - Weather related inside or outdoor group games and activities-Structured/Staff Lead Activity-all students are required to participate and put forth best effort

4:00 - Free Time (outdoor weather permitting)

4:30 - Wrap-up activity time & Clean Up

4:35 - 4:50 - Indoor Quiet Time: Staff Read Aloud, Individual Reading Time

4:50 - 5:45 - Choice Time (Legos, Art Projects, Small Group Games, Social time)

Play-on goes until 5:45!
