About Us
Play-On Afterschool is a family-owned business! The owners are Marie, Ewan, and Amelia Harper. We started this afterschool because of our love for working with kids and our strong connections in the Sunset Ridge Elementary community. We strive to enrich your kids aftercare experience by providing a safe, fun, educational, and creative environment for your child to be in. We are community oriented and aim to make aftercare more affordable for those in the Sunset Ridge Community.
Marie Harper
Hello — I’m Marie Harper. I’m a certified elementary teacher with 30+ years of experience in public schools in Wisconsin and California, teaching students from kindergarten through high school. My specialties are English Language Arts and Performance Arts, and throughout my career I focused on creating classrooms rooted in respect, creativity, and fun.
Beyond the classroom, I’ve been active in school communities — leading PTOs, establishing a middle school PTA, serving on a school board, coaching, directing community literacy programs, and mentoring as a lead teacher.
I hold a BS in Education from UW–Madison and a master’s degree from Viterbo University. Currently I am working as a HR Specialist and Office Administrator in a growing medical device manufacturing company in Middleton.
I’m also the proud parent of four adult children. In my free time, I love to travel, hike, swim and spend time with my family. I’m excited to connect with and support students and families in our afterschool program.
Ewan Harper
Hi there! My name is Ewan Harper, I am 23 years old. I have worked in the afterschool industry for the past three years, and have discovered a huge passion for education and working with children! I very recently graduated with my associates degree from Madison College, I plan to continue my education at UW Whitewater in education in the near future.
I enjoy soccer, video games, Legos, Pokémon, nature, as well as fantasy and sci-fi being my favorite genres. I also very much like getting to know people I am extremely excited to start this next chapter in my life continuing what I truly care for and have expertise in! I am excited to welcome you and your children into our program.
Amelia Harper
Hey! My name is Amelia Harper, I am 21 years old. I am currently a senior at UW-Madison, majoring in Data Science, with certificates in Economic Analytics, and Sports Communication.
With a major like that you might be wondering how I ended up working in childcare? When I was 18, I accepted a job to work for afterschool program. I realized quite quickly how rewarding I found working with kids. During the past 3 years, I have had the honor of spending the majority of that time at Sunset Ridge Elementary School, the students have taught me so much about myself, and I look forward to continue that this up coming year!
A little more about me, I love reading, and I am a big sports fan. I love playing soccer, basketball, and volleyball. I love watching soccer, basketball and Women’s hockey. Fun fact: I had class and sat with Olympic Gold-medalist Caroline “KK” Harvey who played Hockey for UW-Madison! I am so excited to for everything this new school year will bring!
